We recommended for hair to be atleast 1/4”, which is about the length of a grain of rice.
When the hair is too short, the wax won’t be able to “grip” on to the hair properly. this will cause you more pain since it will pull the hair, but not out of the follicle.
We recommend the hair not be longer than a 1/2”, for the same reason, but with opposite effect.
When the hair is too long, it can be just as painful but the hair will come out. If you hair is over the 1/2” length, we suggest you trim slightly before getting a wax, as we DO NOT trim.
Our saying with waxing is “First is Worst”, so, yes there is a brief time that it may hurt. However, everyones pain tolerance is completely different!
Waxing is a way of removing mass amounts of hair in a fast manner, however the pain is VERY BRIEF and is only done every 3-6 weeks.
Most clients have told us their brazilians didn’t hurt as badly as expected! Brazilians are typically more painful because it is an area with thin skin, and thick follicles, but again everyone is different!
Brazilian, upper lip, and sideburns. However, the first time you do something will always be the most painful because it’s the first time you’re experiencing the feeling, and if you shave, the hair is more coarse. Some find areas tender that overs don’t and vice versa. It all varies person to person.
Some people find taking ibuprofen before their appointment can help to ease the pain.
Also, allowing the hair to grow slightly over the 1/4” can help reduce the pain, since we won’t have to go over spots as many times. The best thing you can do is to stay on schedule once you begin waxing!
It's different for everyone because everyones hair grows at different speeds. In the beginning you may begin to see hairs start to grow in the 1-2 weeks after your appointment.
Once you have been waxing 3-6 months, you’ll notice about 2 weeks of no hair growth, and 1-2 weeks of random hair growth.
Most people go 3 weeks for brazilians and underarms, and 2-5 for facial hair. these are estimates, and all results are different for each person.
Besides making sure your hair is the right length, wear looser fitting garments - nothing too tight, and preferably cotton. Exfoliate prior to your service, and after, about 2-3 times a week. and please avoid any topical numbing creams, they don’t work as well as you believe, and make it harder to wax!
Avoid physical contact, sweating, tanning, and saunas for 24-48 hours after your appointment.
